Ep. 45: Raffela Mancuso & Mik Zazon

In their last podcast before the delivery of their baby, Alex rates Shane as a labour support person based on their first birth, and gives him ways that he can be a better help this time around. They reflect on their first birth experience, and how they hope this time will be different. 

 

Raffela Mancuso recently disrupted the internet when calling out the disproportionate amount of thin white women in the body positive community. She discusses the need for this conversation, and for amplifying voices in fat communities and the creators of the original movement: fat BIPOC and black womxn. 

 

Mik Zazon joins to discuss the meaning of “health”, the manipulation of the weight loss industry in our everyday lives, and living with disordered eating. Mik shares her own experiences with weight and body acceptance, and how this has impacted her relationship with herself, her family, and others around her. Shane relates, and gets Mik’s input on his own body issues.
